Karla Cortez, Executive Director
Karla joined Laredo Stroke Support in November 2021. As Executive Director, she leads the development of the program, coordinates community partnerships and fundraising efforts, and ensures the organization stays true to its mission.

Lorren Cantú, Program Coordinator
Lorren joined LSSG in April 2025, after earning her degree in Chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin. She has helped expand the organization’s programs and community outreach, and now serves as Program Coordinator, where she oversees weekly activities, coordinates volunteers, and leads fundraising events that support stroke recovery and wellness.
The program coordinator also represents LSSG at local health fairs, promoting stroke awareness and helping new survivors and volunteers get connected with the group. Lorren is passionate about improving quality of life and serving her community.


Dora Lee Garcia, Program Outreach Aide
We’re proud to have Dora Lee-Garcia as part of the LSSG team! Dora graduated in May from Texas A&M International University with a degree in Biology and is currently taking a gap year before pursuing a Doctorate in Dentistry.
Since joining, Dora has helped bridge LSSG with the TAMIU Hispanic Pre-Health Society, the student organization she founded, allowing more volunteers to join our efforts and learn about community-based care. She assists with group activities, community fundraisers, and health fairs, helping ensure each event runs smoothly and reaches more people in need. Dora continues to make a meaningful impact in connecting students and community members through service.
Reyes Armendariz, Program Outreach Aide
We’re excited to welcome Reyes Armendariz to the LSSG team after first joining our group as a volunteer! Reyes will be graduating this December with a degree in Kinesiology from Texas A&M International University.
He plays an active role in supporting stroke survivors through their daily activities, focusing on motivation, balance, and coordination. In addition to working directly with our survivors, Reyes helps spread awareness of LSSG throughout the community by participating in fundraisers and health fairs.We’re proud to have him as part of our mission to support and empower stroke survivors and their caregivers. Reyes will continue his education this spring, pursuing a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
