EXERCISE

Our Exercise Class is designed specifically for stroke survivors to help improve strength, balance, and overall mobility in a supportive and encouraging environment. Join us each week to stay active, boost confidence, and connect with others on the recovery journey.

ART

When: Wednesdays from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Where: San Martin de Porres Church

Instructor: Patty Ordunas

Our weekly Art Class offers stroke survivors a creative and therapeutic space to express themselves while working on fine motor skills. Whether you're exploring art for the first time or continuing a lifelong passion, this class supports healing, confidence, and connection through creativity.

Fut-Work Soccer Class

When: Offered on special occasions

Where: Hayne's Recreation Center
Instructor: Adrian Delgadillo

Fut-Work is a modified way to practice fútbol (soccer) through engaging footwork drills. Designed to challenge both body and mind, the class focuses on reflex training, coordination, and movement patterns. 

Gardening (Seasonal)

Instructor: Meg Guerra

Our Gardening Class provides stroke survivors with a hands-on, therapeutic way to connect with nature while working on fine motor skills, focus, and relaxation. Led by Meg Guerra, this seasonal class promotes wellness, creativity, and a sense of accomplishment through gardening activities tailored to all ability levels.

WATER CYCLING

When: Fridays from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Where: Inner City Pool 202 W Plum St.

City of Laredo Lifeguards/Instructors: Bruce & Angel 

Our Water Cycling class is a seasonal activity offered during select months of the year.
It’s a fun and low-impact way for stroke survivors to stay active, improve mobility, and build strength — all while enjoying the benefits of water-based exercise.

CHAIR YOGA

When: Mondays from 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM
Where: Rooted956

Instructor: Alli Flores

Chair Yoga is a gentle, low-impact class designed to help stroke survivors improve flexibility, balance, and relaxation — all from the comfort of a chair. Led by the team at Rooted956, this seasonal class supports both physical and mental well-being in a safe and calming environment.

Decompression

When: Fridays

Where: Hayne's Recreation Center

Instructor: Lillian Campos

Our Decompression Class is designed to help stroke survivors gently stretch and release tension in muscles that are often overlooked. Led by Lillian Campos, this monthly class focuses on improving flexibility, reducing discomfort, and promoting overall relaxation and body awareness.

Walking Club

When: Tuesday at 11:00 AM 
Where: Cinemark Mall del Norte

Our Walking Club meets at the Cinemark theater entrance of Mall del Norte. Program Aides guide the group through light stretching before walking indoors in the air-conditioned mall. Early hours mean minimal crowds, and participants can walk at their own pace with water breaks and rest areas available.

Tardiada de Platica

When: Every last Monday of the month at 6pm
Where: San Martin de Porres Church

Tardeada de Plática is a group-based speech therapy session designed to help stroke survivors practice communication in a supportive, social setting. Held monthly, this class encourages conversation, confidence, and connection — all while working on speech and language skills in a relaxed and encouraging environment.

Talk About Your Stroke

& Luncheons (Occasional)

During our Talk About Your Stroke group session, survivors come together to share their journeys, build connections, and support one another. This safe and compassionate space reminds everyone that they are not alone. Additionally, we have luncheons at either Doctor’s Hospital or the Laredo Medical Center cafeteria, giving survivors the chance to socialize in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Monthly Meeting

​When: Every second Monday of the month
Time: 6:00 PM

Where: San Martin de Porres Church

Our monthly group meeting is a space for stroke survivors, caregivers, and families to come together for support and connection. In addition to sharing experiences, we bring in guest speakers and local community resources each month to provide helpful information, services, and guidance that may benefit everyone in the group.

Whether you're new to the group or have been with us for a while, we welcome you to join us and be part of a compassionate, understanding community.

Caregivers Meeting

When: Every last Monday of the month
Time: 6:00 PM
Where: San Martin de Porres Church

Caring for a stroke survivor comes with its own unique challenges — and you're not alone. Our Caregivers Meeting offers a safe and supportive space for family members and loved ones to come together, share their journeys, and connect with others who truly understand.

We believe that healing extends beyond the survivor, which is why this group is dedicated to helping caregivers find strength, resources, and a sense of community.
